All of Our Reviews are here!
Don't forget to check out the link on the right to the spreadsheet with all of our reviews. We've been keeping this for years, so please forgive if we haven't updated all of the entries. We're working on it - In the meantime, give what we have done a look.
I loved your reviews and have much to comment upon! 1) Finding Neverland creeped me out too! I've been attracted to James Barry because I love Peter Pan and the BYU center in London is catty-corner from his home and I loved visiting the Peter Pan statue in Hyde Park. After watching this movie I checked his biography and the real story is even wierder. The mom was NOT a widow, she was married at the time of the story and her husband was very unhappy about Barry's inappropriate closeness to his wife and sons. She and her husband both died of illness very close together and Barry took the boys on as wards (I think just financially). All three boys committed suicide early in their adult lives. Eeeh. 2)Nacho Libre--I also agree that Jack Black can do no wrong. Love him! 3)Stranger than Fiction--disagree here. I was so looking forward to a funny movie. Not funny at all--depressing--not in the ending but just that disturbing tone throughout. All the characters seemed more like mannekins than real people. That's why I couldn't believe Farrells romance. Loved the "flours" bit, but it just seemed like that woman was taking on a mentally deranged man. Have loved Emma Thompson in the past but this is the second of her movies that just depressed me (the other was "Wit"). 4) Love your reviews!
We have been collecting our movie ratings for a while now, just for fun. So here's our blog with our newer reviews, and check out the link (above) to all of our reviews (over 100.)
Our ratings scale: 1 Star: Stinks 2 Stars: Just O.K. 3 Stars: Good 4 Stars: Excellent
Where are the new movies? You should know that we rarely see movies in theaters these days. This is partly because we prefer to pay one dollar rather than 20, but mostly because we have our kiddos at home (and yes, then we'd have to pay 40 buckos! for one movie!) So our reviews will come whenever we get around to seeing the DVDs.
Ratings seem high? Like you, I'm sure, we try to see movies that we think are going to be good, and which have gotten good reviews. Of course, occasionally we come across a real stinker - against our will, and we want that time back!
MPAA ratings seem low (PG, PG-13 range)? Yep, that's how we like them. Occasionally, we will include R films (e.g., United 93) if we feel they are really worth watching.
